b. 1961 British. Painter
Paul James is a gifted wildlife, animal and landscape artist whose love of realism and attention to detail, combined with a wicked sense of humour, marks him out as one of the countries most sought after and enduring artists. Having built a reputation for well crafted, very english country scenes, littered with traditional looking but finely painted cows and sheep, laterly Pauls work has turned to animal portraiture and characature, with large scale paintings that are bold, contempory and traditional all of a piece. His paintings are highly prized and he is widely published and collected in print. Often imitated but never bettered, Paul continues to push the boundaries of popularist art bringing much joy as he does so.
The gallery maintains a turning stock of quality lithographs, artists posters and prints along with drawings, original paintings and sculpture.
