English Painter b. 1962
The human form observed and captured at rest or in movement forms a major preocupation in the work of artist Bill Bate. Shaking of the usual constraints of realism in painting, Bill is interested in allowing the paint to have a life of its own. In so doing he leaves its application quite loose at times allowing room for a more expresive style with ethereal qualities. Yet his paintings carry a weight that sugests life with a presence yes but also a history and a beautiful future.
The gallery maintains a turning stock of quality lithographs, artists posters and prints along with drawings, original paintings and sculpture.
